De Vries to be replaced by Ricciardo starting from Hungarian GP

Daniel Ricciardo is set to make a return to the Formula 1 grid, taking over Nyck de Vries’ spot at AlphaTauri starting from the Hungarian Grand Prix. De Vries was relieved of his driving duties following a disappointing 17th place finish at the British Grand Prix. Throughout the season, he struggled to keep up with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, prompting team boss Helmut Marko to publicly express his dissatisfaction. After another poor performance in the British GP, Marko decided to make a change and bring in Ricciardo on loan from Red Bull.

Ricciardo has previous experience with AlphaTauri, having driven for the team when it was known as Toro Rosso from 2012 to 2013. He was then promoted to the senior Red Bull squad in 2014.

AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost expressed his excitement about Ricciardo’s return, praising his driving skills and experience as an eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner. Tost also thanked de Vries for his contributions and wished him well for the future.

Ricciardo himself expressed his enthusiasm about rejoining the Red Bull family and getting back on track.
