Immediate Effect: de Vries Set to Depart AlphaTauri

Multiple sources have confirmed that Nyck de Vries has been removed from his AlphaTauri Formula 1 seat with immediate effect. Speculation about his future has been growing due to his poor performance this season. Despite calls from Red Bull driver boss Helmut Marko for de Vries to improve, the 2019 F2 champion has only achieved a 12th place finish in the Monaco Grand Prix. Marko has become frustrated with de Vries’ inability to turn things around and has decided to replace him. It is currently unknown who will take de Vries’ place alongside Yuki Tsunoda, but there have been strong rumors of Daniel Ricciardo returning to the grid. Ricciardo is currently completing a tyre test for Pirelli at Silverstone in the Red Bull RB19. AlphaTauri and Red Bull have officially confirmed that Ricciardo will be partnering with Tsunoda starting from the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 21st-23rd.
